With cutting edge, highly intuitive and interactive systems, Victoria’s unique Lady Northcote Children’s Farm School Heritage Trail App will engage and educate visitors. A visit to the purpose built farm school offers an opportunity to hear stories of British child migrants. Visitors will use their smart devices to act as a virtual tour guide through Cottage 12. The journey is designed to encourage visitors to remember the past, understand what it was like, and connect with the children’s stories through their photos, films and writings. The journey is interpretative and will be a moving experience that provides a lasting impression.

Lady Northcote Children’s Farm School, 17 kilometres from Bacchus Marsh, has a unique opportunity using the heritage trail to educate everyone on the immense farming and British child migration history in Bacchus Marsh and rural Australia. Bacchus Marsh was originally a rural farming community with orchards, dairying and milk factories. Today, apart from some irrigated market gardens, Bacchus Marsh has become a peri-urban commuter community of 20,000 people. Many locals commute each day to Melbourne without regard for the nearby farming heritage and traditions. The development of the app may be the springboard to reignite local Bacchus Marsh agricultural-tourism.
