A kitchen learning facility will be constructed in an existing space in the school. A teaching kitchen and learning environment consisting of ovens, stoves, sinks, benches, storage, dining tables and chairs, cooking utensils and equipment and food supplies for cooking. Teaching resources from the Stephanie Alexander Program or similar program aligned to school curriculum around nutrition, life skills, health, wellness, environment and sustainability.
An edible garden including planters, paths and plants will be constructed on school grounds along with a covered outdoor learning platform, a flexible learning space with seating and tables including alfresco eating area for children.
The program and facilities will develop children’s lifelong skills in the kitchen and garden and encourage these local children to enjoy all the benefits of growing, harvesting, preparing and sharing. Such a program will expose children to the enjoyment of flavour and texture, an understanding of cultural and culinary difference and an understanding of the relationship between growing produce, caring for the environment and a healthier lifestyle.
Parents can volunteer and assist with the garden and kitchen and foster a community focussed on healthy living and nutrition and a much needed shift to outdoor nature exploration and physical activity.

Just a question.
Will this garden be organic?
What principles will you follow?
