This project is to support bringing this moving, entertaining, and innovative multilingual production of King Lear to Australian audiences.
The Comedy of Errors was produced in Mexico in 2016, and Hey No Nonny, a devised work based on Romeo & Juliet, toured a series of arts festivals in South Korea in 2017.
Both productions were performed in Shakespeare’s original Elizabethan English, as well as French, Italian, Portuguese, Korean, Spanish, and Maori.
This Ensemble was formed from the 2015 International Actors Fellowship at Shakespeare's Globe in London.

King Lear for Australia.
We would like to support the International Actors Ensemble to bring King Lear to Melbourne in this multilingual format.
IAE is a company of more than 20 actors and arts educators hailing from more than a dozen countries – Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Macedonia, Mexico, New Zealand, Pakistan, Singapore, South Korea, and the U.S., and remains the only company formed solely from the alumnus of that program to have produced its own independent seasons. It is built on the idea that Shakespeare’s appeal transcends words and speaks directly to what connects us all.
