This project would benefit students already at the school who are wheelchair-bound and currently require staff to unlock a side gate for front-of-school access. This is aside from the overall benefit to the school and local community!

The McCracken Street entrance to the school is in very poor condition and is not compliant with needs of people with a disability. Some of the school playground equipment is also in poor condition and not safe. The project will improve the access and amenity of the McCracken Street entrance (compliant with Disability Discrimination Act requirements), including new landscaping and more green space. The project will also replace some of the school playground equipment, providing for a better and safer experience for children and families. Planning for the project is well advanced, meaning it could be implemented quickly.
The school is open to the community on weekends and many families take advantage of the school grounds. The school has a large sports area, gardens and some playgrounds. The project will enable more members of the community to access the school grounds on weekends, provide for a more welcoming and pleasant school entrance and install better and safer playground equipment. The project will improve the recreation options for families in the immediate area and those that wish to travel to use the space.

This school is the character of Kensington. My mum and dad went there, so very special now to me, living in the area. The new portables, are horrible, so any improvement on the facade is welcomed
