The Kensington Community Festival provides free activities for all ages and abilities, eg. children’s arts activities, live music, dancing, tai chi, wildlife animal displays and henna hand painting.
There will be community and business stalls to help raise awareness of services in the local community as well as a Sustainable Living Expo component. This will be a range of exhibitions and presentations designed to raise awareness and provide education on environmental sustainability.
In addition to the above, there will be a range of healthy multicultural food options available.
The Festival will be planned by a community based planning group.
The aim of the festival is to help people feel more connected and engaged within their community. It celebrates and showcases the local community with activities that foster a spirit of togetherness, fun, wellbeing, inclusiveness and cultural exchange.
It will strengthen relationships and connections between the Kensington redevelopment (former Kensington Public Housing Estate) and the wider community.
It will raise awareness, profiles and connections of local business, community and government services and agencies in Kensington and surrounds.
It will help patrons reduce their ecological footprint and wherever possible source entertainment and vendors from within our local community.
