Cosgrove in the Goulburn valley was once a thriving village but it now has a population of 54 (2016 Census) and mostly farms. With limited evidence remaining, this silo art project will recognise the town that was, providing a visual footprint of Cosgrove and a celebration of its story and people. Access to viewing the silo would be free, 'open 24/7', and is easily found and seen from the adjacent road with safe and easy parking access for visitors. It is anticipated the Cosgrove 'art silo' would form part of a bigger north east silo trail.
Tourism is a growing industry in the area with cycling attractions in nearby Dookie (rail trails, mountain bike events at Mt Major, a popular route for road-cycling from Shepparton), small wineries and recently established walking trails; all draw-cards. The proposed silo art would be an added attraction for visitors. Cosgrove would be uniquely positioned to provide the Western gateway to 'North East Silo Art Trail' involving Devenish and other nearby townships. Many families connected to Cosgrove still remain in the area and the project creates a centre-piece for recognition of the community and history of Cosgrove into the future.

Cosgrove silo art would provide an extra attraction for visitors to Dookie and surrounds. Especially if it becomes a talking point to stimulate interest in how things were done in the 'olden days'.
It is important to develop a link with the once vital village of Cosgrove by visually depicting the industry and
activities of a bygone era, together with the engaging people of the early days.
It is important to share our history and to share where we have come from especially for the younger generation.
A great tourist and educational project for all Australians to enjoy.
A wonderful initiative. Looking forward to when we can walk/cycle from Dookie on the Rail Trail to Cosgrove and see the proposed artwork.
Would look striking in such a great location.
We hope so...it is such a great space for visiting and viewing.
It would be a fantastic addition to the community and a wonderful opportunity for talented artists.
It would be, plus bring back some of Cosgrove's yesteryear.
I love the silo art.
This would increase the silo art starting from Shepparton, Cosgrove Tungamah Devenish Goorambat a great idea there are four coffee food outlets in dookie for a stop over. It would be terrific to have a reminder of the Cosgrove community
Yes, Joy all of that.
This would be a fantastic tourist attraction for our district.
As a starting trail from Shepparton for the other 3 silo's painted at Devenish, Goorambat and Tungamah.
It will bring the Cosgrove community together to enhance the walk on the GSCC & Federal Government Matching Grant planned number 2 Rail Trail 2019 to Conway Road and eventually the Cosgrove Golf Club onto Shepparton.
Let's all celebrate being able to walk in the countryside through fantastic fertile agricultural land.

I have learnt a lot about the Cosgrove area recently. The importance of its rural history and the sacrifices made for our country could be beautifully depicted on the silos as acknowledgement of the past and inspiration for rural communities of the future.
