Our junior school playground is badly in need of an upgrade. We've recently lost a number of much-loved trees from this area, including a willow, which provided a lot of shade and interest. We'd like to replace the shade from the tree with a rotunda and some shade sails and upgrade the playground. We'd also like to plant some mature trees. This playground is used by our junior school and is frequented by community members. A very popular cafe is next door, so the playground has many visitors outside of school hours.

Children need playgrounds to build their gross motor skills. There are a number of playgrounds in Aspendale, but none down this end of the suburb. Our school playground serves a double purpose with school families and local families. Because of the lack of trees around the playground, shade sails and the rotunda will protect students and playground users from the elements.

I would love to see an exciting sustainable Nature Play Area for the Foundation students at Aspendale Primary School.
Natural, irregular and challenging spaces help kids learn to recognise, assess and negotiate risk and build confidence and competence.
Children who play in nature have more positive feelings about each other and bullying behaviour is greatly reduced where children have access to diverse nature-based play environments.
It is such a huge jump from an enriched kindergarten play ground to the wide open space of a school playground. We need to close this gap.

Being at the front of the school this old playground isn’t very enticing. This area is for our foundation (preps) and in really doesn’t offer them much variety or engagement in the big new world of ‘school!’ Help us create a space that will make their first year at school exciting.

this is a drab playground for kids who are seeing a primary school for the first time since Kindergarten which are bright, fun & playful.... little 5 year olds needs to be excited at playtime, this is their first impression of school and its not too friendly.
