We wish to establish a junior program for lawn bowls at our club similar to AFL Auskick. It would be on Saturday mornings for two hours and provide the youth of the Flemington and Kensington area with a different sporting avenue than traditional junior sports. Junior participation is a gateway to further involvement in lawn bowls, which is played at an international level.

Traditionally, young people participate in sports such as netball, soccer, football and cricket. There are few sports where children who do not possess athletic prowess can excel. However, lawn bowls is a sport where everyone competes on a level footing regardless of age, gender and physical ability. Our program will provide an alternative to traditional sports and encourage participation by those who would not otherwise engage in sport. In turn, this leads to a feeling of inclusiveness in the local community.

Hi Peter, Will support this idea but for most kids already play Seasonal sports or compulsory school sports on Saturday mornings. Can I suggest Sunday mornings or Saturday Afternoon would get more kids there. A lot also have swimming lessons and tennis and I know a lot of local families that kids go to Language lessons on Saturday mornings. Our kids will go if its at another time.
