We are transforming an ugly garden space near a pavement at a tramstop into a peace garden where people of all abilities can sit peacefully. Features include seating; paving; pleasant garden and shade trees; a peace sculpture created by a local artist through a competition. It will also recognise the contribution of Jack Campbell - a man of peace and wisdom - a member of numerous local organisations, including a councillor and mayor of Glen Eira City Council. It will be a site for small public and social justice events eg NAIDOC week, Remembrance days, art installations etc.

It will provide a space for people of all abilities to sit peacefully and meditatively, including whilst at the adjacent tramstop. It will provide a convenient outside site for small public events in special weeks and days eg NAIDOC and Remembrance days, and for art installations focused on social justice issues eg asylum seeker advocacy.
It will celebrate the life and work of the late Jack Campbell, who contributed to numerous local organisations, including as councillor and mayor of the Glen Eira City Council. Such a space for activities like these is a fitting memorial to such a man.

Jack was a much loved member of St Johns Uniting church, a tireless community worker and much missed at St Johns Opportunity Shop.

I was privileged to meet and work with Jack as a member of the Glen Eira Resident's Association. Jack's contribution to the city of Glen Eira was enormous. it is important that we acknowledged his valuable contribution.

We all need more peace and time to reflect. And there are so many big unfriendly buildings going up in the community, it is nice to balance this with something green and beautiful that we can share together.

A wonderful opportunity to provide a space for all, though he would have probably planted some fruit trees and herbs in case anyone was hungry while they were there.

A very fitting community project to honour a man who quietly gave so much to the community he cared so much about. He loved gardens of all types and it is a lovely way to remember him while providing a beautiful space which will be enjoyed by many who walk past it, admire it and reflect while spending time in it. We should all celebrate peace in the world.

A fitting project and tribute to a man who gave so much to those less well off and to the broader commuity.
