Disc golf is similar to traditional golf, except players throw golf discs from a tee area to an elevated basket. A healthy life-time sport suitable for people of all ages and abilities, it can be enjoyed individually in competition and casually with family and friends. Our project will help diversify the recreational opportunities for members and attract new visitors to the club with a unique and accessible sport. Through implementing development strategies such as non-competitive women leagues and youth focussed come and try events, our project aims to increase female membership and participation at the club.
Disc golf will provide the Inverleigh community with access to a unique and diverse sport usually offered only in metropolitan cities. Inexpensive to play and socially inclusive, disc golf will provide community members of all ages and abilities access to participate in an unstructured activity anytime.
Unlike traditional golf courses, disc golf courses don’t require watering and regular mowing of fairways and are virtually maintenance free. Once installed, the disc golf facility will become a self sustaining asset for the club, helping to increase our membership base and foster the growth of our club for many years to come.

Public golf courses and open spaces throughout urban areas create opportunity to exercise a variety of muscles in the body whilst walking. I find shared recreation spaces are culturally and physically enriching. Nascent discgolf communities are growing internationally throughout USA, nz, Scandinavia and Europe. Mixed pairs can be a fun game to play with novel combinations and outcomes.

This would be a great asset for a health promoting activity for our community and can be enjoyed across age groups with or without a group or formal competition. The lovely Golf Club setting is ideal and already provides great facilities. -

The Inverleigh Golf Club site blends beautifully with the opportunity it have a Disc Golf Course blend in with it. Wonderful for families, and a cheap sporting game to sustain.
