The rural community of Inverleigh needs a new play space that is accessible, fun, appeals to multiple age groups, is physically challenging and stimulating. The proposed play space will incorporate a large multi skill unit with slides, flying fox, ladders and rock wall. Beside this unit will be a 6 meter rope tower, rocker rider and quad swing set. The play space is proposed for the vacant park land between the existing public toilets and skate ramp and will incorporate seating and picnic tables. It will be sensitive to the surrounding natural environment, Leigh river and landscaped accordingly.
A new play space in Inverleigh is required by our growing community. The GPSC Inverleigh Structure Plan states 23.8% of the Inverleigh population is under 10 years old and 55% of families are couples with children. A great public play space will be a focal point for families to interact and a major tourism draw card. The proposed location works in well with the proximity to the Hamilton Highway, existing public amenities and is within a short walk to the local shops. This project is greatly supported by local families, clubs and groups for the community benefits it offers.

With so many visitors stopping at the public toilets on their way through town it’s the perfect place to have a playground. The town really needs more for the local children with so many new young families moving out here.
