Whale’s Tale is an outdoor theatre show by award-winning company Born in a Taxi (BIAT). It features a beautiful, life like, giant inflatable whale puppet called Manilayo, who’s not feeling too well. When he coughs up a giant ball of plastic at the end of the show, children and families are left wondering how it got inside him and what they can do about it.

We’d like to remake our puppet so that everyone in the audience can experience what it’s like to be swallowed by a Whale, and to perform free shows over a year to Hobsons Bay audiences!

Whale’s Tale is an entertaining, engaging, interactive FREE show for 3 - 12 year olds and their families. Which acts as a conversation starter about consumption and waste.

BIAT will use the immersive post-show experience of going inside the whale to introduce children and their families to an environmental project partner. This partner will support households and the community through their programs to work together to solve one of the biggest challenges facing our society; the relentless flow of waste from homes and businesses into landfill, rivers, oceans.

Creating a pilot program that could be upscaled to other Victorian communities.
