Insulating the Beechworth Community Recreation Centre- Beechworth Secondary College Gym

The current sisalation lining is 20 years old and disintegrating rapidly. The project will entail lining the internal ceiling with insulative foam panels with colourbond steel sheeting covering.
It has become hotter in summer and colder in winter, making it less comfortable for user groups. The Community Recreation Centre is the school's only gym and large space used for presentations & assemblies and the shelter in place. Users include; Beechworth Indoor Soccer Club and Indoor Netball Assoc., Little Kickers Soccer Program, Beechworth Tennis Coaching Inc., Beechworth Football/Netball Club and community events i.e. public speakers, fundraisers, visiting groups such as gymnastics.

With no heating/cooling this project would make the stadium more usable all year round. Currently during winter the stadium is often below zero and this makes it difficult to attract junior user groups and very uncomfortable for BSC students during PE classes when mornings are so cold. In summer, temperatures regularly exceed 45 degrees during afternoon classes for BSC students and for afternoon & evening user groups.
The Recreation Centre is an integral part of the Beechworth sporting and recreation community and this project would considerably enhance its usage and patronage and improve the daily experience of BSC students.
