Info Sessions for Emerging Communities

I migrated to Australia almost 20 years ago with 3 small children from the Bosnian war. I will share my personal experience with raising children in Australia and all the positives new immigrants have to look forward to. I will have a presentation and brochures in simple English (or with an interpreter) on different topics such as education, services, the legal system, banking, childcare and other information that would be useful to a new immigrant.

As we know, youth crime and well-being is a major issue particularly in the western suburbs of Melbourne, where there is a large population of immigrants. My project might help give immigrated parents and their children the right tools to cope with the confusion of a completely foreign system and potentially decrease youth crime rates. This information will help families assimilate to everyday Australian life and make the local community more welcoming of them.
