To develop a garden highlighting the indigenous vegetation of our community and the significance of individual plants and animals. The garden will be developed in collaboration with the students, traditional owners and community with the aims to:
- further develop relationships with students, traditional owners and Community,
-  improve understanding and appreciation of Indigenous culture,
- enhance habitat for ecologically and culturally significant native species within school grounds,
- reconnect students and teachers with biodiversity, by building a powerful connection to a native species, and
deliver health and well-being benefits to school children and community through engagement with nature.

Carlton North Primary School is working towards making greater connections with the wider community. The Indigenous Cultural Garden will be a focal point for the community to engage with indigenous gardening and cultural stories. The garden will also provide habitat for target species. Importantly reconnecting a highly urbanised environment with nature and providing an access point for the broader community to engage with the school and promote the love of gardening and biodiversity. This project will also provide an opportunity for the indigenous students within the school to celebrate their culture.

An excellent way to educate children while connecting them with the indigenous community.
