Altona Green Primary School is over 25 years old and there has been no significant upgrade of the playground in this time. The current playground is tired and worn, no longer serving the growth of the school. The school has cleared an area that was not safe for students which is perfect for the new playground. The new playground would be accessible to all students. We also have a number of students with ASD at our school who would benefit greatly from a playground that includes sensory aspects and equipment that can meet their specific physical and social needs.
The school has an expanding population catering for the booming population growth in Melbourne's west which means there is currently not enough play equipment for all students to enjoy. We plan to make this playground accessible for all students by adding freestanding pieces that are safe for all age groups, so that all students can participate in outdoor play activities.
The school community has been working tirelessly over the past 3 years to raise funds. Should our application be successful, the current school community who have raised the funds to date could enjoy the playground sooner.

I strongly support Altona Green Primary School’s request for an inclusive playground. Their equipment is aged and does not cater for all ages and abilities. As a leading school in the west supporting children with special needs, it would be ideal for the school to benefit from this funding to provide a more inclusive play environment for these children. The school works tirelessly to fundraise, but playgrounds costs big $$ and this school would be more than deserving.

This really needs to happen, the school does a great job with what it has, but sadly the playground is in dire need of an upgrade, my autistic son basically walks around talking to himself at lunchtime as he does not feel comfortable on the old, worn out current playground, I beg you please give this the greenlight and make it happen....

The schools current play ground has been there for more than 10yrs and is not big enough for the enormous number of kids there the kids need this

Altona Green Primary School is a great government school serving the community of Altona Meadows, Sanctuary Lakes and beyond. A playground upgrade is well overdue. The number of students on role has dramatically increased in the last few years and the ageing playground equipment is no longer adequate or appropriate.

This school has an amazing reputation in the community with tremendous support. Their existing facilities are lacking leaving children without. I strongly support this prograprograms.
