We very successfully piloted and learnt from our program in 2017/8 and now want to expand it to actively financially assist and mentor 10 more under-privileged youth of both genders from inner city locations. These individuals will be included into a specific team for the year to conduct a number of valued and meaningful tasks required at the club. The entire team will take “ownership” of the program and actively assist, guide and encourage the mentees. A professional mentor will oversee the program and the mentors. The mentees will be financially assisted to enter year7 and paid a minimal wage.

Benefits will be to provide broad based guidance and financial support to selected students entering year7 from disadvantaged backgrounds within inner city locations.
Aim is to assist mentees to develop their strengths and work on their weaknesses. The secondary objective is to benefit (leadership, social awareness & responsibility) the young footballers who take a key role in mentoring each of the mentees.
The longer term objective is to provide a template for all community sporting organisations in Australia to create similar programs for their local communities. Overall, the mentees reap the benefits of social interaction, community inclusion, self-esteem, etc.
