An essential building which can be utilised by schools, sporting clubs, CFA and the community in general.
The building looks old and terrible at present but with funding could be something special.
Siuated on the main highway (Hamilton), the building would attract, both locals and tourists.
Being just metres from the CBD, with a bit of TLC, there is no reason this building shouldnt be used on a weekly basis.

Our Hall is used by Penshurst Associations, Groups and hundreds of individuals yearly. Activities range from school concerts, the annual Art Exhibition, birthday parties for all ages, the markets, anniversary celebrations, and funerals and wakes where the whole community will gather. The Hall is utilized by the SGS Council, CFA, RSL, Lions Club, Penshurst Hospital Ladies Auxillary and Men's Shed as needed, and for larger gatherings such as dances. It is a movie theatre for kids and adults from around the region. With the new committee of management in place, the Hall could be so much more.
Our town has started to grow again and the need for the Hall as a community gathering place is increasing. The condition it is in at present is not inspiring. Very visible on the Highway, the building, inside and out, looks neglected & in desperate need of a facelift. Upgrading it is a way of involving our community members in a project that inspires hope for the future. We have new residents and new businesses opening, now is the time to revitalise our Community Hub.

I feel the hub of a village is the town hall which is (and can be) used by all the community and therefore should be maintained and revitalized to reflect its significance within the village.
A community that plays together - stays together.
In this day and age with families moving apart due to many reasons, such as work, it is vital to build and keep a strong community structure. A community is a family, we don't always agree with one another, but we are always there to help and support each other.
The Penshurst Hall is also on the main highway that is seen by both locals and visitors, and in its current poor condition does not reflect well on the community. It is vital to make it something the community is proud of.
