This crane has been identified as one of the few railway cranes left standing in reasonable condition. Once a vital part of our economy for transportation of goods to and from markets. It stands proudly in the railway yard at Rosedale and can be seen daily by passing trains. Railway enthusiasts are keen to see it in operational condition so that it may from time to time participate in significant historic or memorable occasions associated with steam train visits or as part of railway history exploration.

Our little town has suffered some significant reverses in recent times and struggles to maintain our services and infrastructures. Modern lifestyles have reduced our community to a domiciliary location missing a strong sense of local identity and pride. The project has the potential to become part of a regular tourist attraction for local and visiting railway enthusiasts and visitors as well as being part of the Rosedale Historic Walk. It will provide an opportunity for the community to work together in supporting volunteers and professionals in the restoration of part of our local and state history, which will become a landmark.
