The program provides gentle exercises and support to people fighting the impact of illness on their fitness and activity levels to improve physical strength, coordination, agility and confidence.

The FREE eight-week pilot program involves small group sessions delivered bi-weekly. It runs multiple times annually and is available to all ages.

Gentle exercises are lead by a qualified, experienced senior’s fitness instructor with nutrition training. She has applied the principles taught to fight the effects of cancer on her own fitness.

Support is provided by a qualified, experienced counselor/educator who has experienced and overcome the impact of chronic illness.

In Highett FREE programs of this kind are NOT available to all people impacted by illness including:
• mature aged people
• young people and
• seniors on waiting lists for similar programs.

People that stay active when fighting back from illness are more likely to feel confident, engage with their community and return to work/activities sooner.

The Highett Fighting Fit Program enables people with health issues to be active in a safe, supportive environment with guidance from qualified, experienced professionals.

The Program is needed in Highett by people of all ages that are disadvantaged by illness.
