Heart of Benalla Community Hub

HEART OF BENALLA Community Hub will provide a safe, social networking and learning space for all members of the community. It will address social health by providing all-inclusive, age friendly/cross generational activities for a diverse range of participants with the potential to offer small social enterprise opportunities.

Activities such as a ‘re-engagement to community’ youth group, social Cafe Club, selected pre-accredited Learn Local programs, facilitated IT ‘upskilling’ tutorial sessions, healthy active lifestyle activities plus community advisory and entertainment groups will be offered .

The community hub will help to empower the local community to increase its social resilience.

The idea for a community hub was highlighted through a community survey conducted by Waminda Community House at a public event in late 2017.

People were asked for expressions of interest around what they would like to see in Benalla.

Many ideas were forthcoming with an underlying theme of an informal, multi-functional community space that could run programs, be utilised by existing groups and offer some small scale social enterprise development opportunities.
Major community benefit will come from the exciting partnerships that can be developed within the community to expand and build a sustainable, vibrant and all-inclusive social space.
