Our project is designed around Yarra Ranges people suffering depression/anxiety however it includes local health specialists, community members, community organisations and local school children. Together we will build, design and create a community healing garden at Seville Community House, a space accessible to and for use by all of community. The healing garden project includes a 48 week mental health component where those suffering depression/anxiety are re-connected with community, self and the land for long term change. An art piece will represent community partnerships showing how we all work together, removing barriers of isolation, for all members of our community

Community working together will create a magnificent community garden within existing space at our Community House, a community house run by community for community. All will have access to the healing garden as a place for reflection or for further community interaction through maintenance and future programmes/planting schemes. The space creates opportunity for the Community House to deliver new programs and Seville Primary School students as they become ‘guardians of the garden’. The healing garden offers an opportunity for people to re-connect so they can again be active participants in our community and even become our next community leaders.

I've seen profound change in vulnerable people connected to nature through healing garden projects. There is such a need for this in our community.
