Fully support this. My kids have entered many shows with photography,cooking etc and love to see how they go and look at all the other competitors in so many categories, I have recently seen footage of an acquaintances husbands birthday at the cattle shed and it looked so good and it has so much potential for many many other events. The venue is so central, so much parking, we really need to upgrade this , and support all the tireless show society volunteers that put so much time and effort to keep this rustic venue going. The potential for so many events , a music event with wine and nibbles, a long lunch raising money for cancer, 21sts, 30th 40ths, engagements, weddings, Xmas parties, markets, fundraising events, Melbourne cup luncheons, footy best and fairest, so many opportunities

'The Cattle Shed' is the proposed pavilion to be re-purposed to exhibit handcrafts and home produce for 100's of adult and child competitors who will access it at the Horsham Agricultural Show.
In addition it will have the capacity to host weddings, special events, arts, cultural and music festivals, expos, markets and school holiday activities for the broader community.
It will provide a safe gathering place as a wet weather venue.
The outdoor hub will provide shade and seating in a landscaped area for alfresco dining/picnics, new pathways for safe mobility and improved lighting for security of patrons at night.
Because the handcrafts and home produce pavilion is not as safe as it once was, a decision was made to close it. A solution is to re-purpose 'The Cattle Shed' rather than hire a marquee or remove the competitions from the Horsham Ag Show schedule.
The need for an alternative, unique reception venue has an economic benefit for our local businesses, as we see couples leaving the area to say 'I do' .
There is community demand for an affordable venue for special events.
An upgraded outdoor hub has the potential to increase attendance at events, which supports user groups.

It’s a fantastic way of preserving our older building and to see the cattle shed repurposed as a venue for the agricultural society to use again at show time , and for it to be used throughout the year.
We've seen too many buildings demolished over the years Jill, so we're doing our bit to preserve what we have.
A very worthwhile project and an area which would be used by a large percentage of the community.

You're absolutely spot on Ian! It is the Ag Society's responsibility to care for the environment at Maydale Reserve - Horsham Showgrounds where The Cattle Shed can be found.
I've been coming down to the showgrounds for over 40 years volunteering and to see The Cattle Shed with a new purpose is great.

I love this project for a number of reasons - preserving a piece of our history, a magical venue for functions and weddings within city limits , using our beautiful river area, upgrading the Maydale Reserve area of the Showgrounds which will be used for many community events. So many opportunities for use for the Community

There is a growing need for a special events venue with a rustic theme in Horsham. A repurposed iconic building, such as the Cattle Shed, that also offers a unique space for other activities, located centrally, is ideal and highly warranted.
