My name is Jorja (12) and I live in Harbour Town. Please vote for a new half basketball court in my local park so we can get more kids playing outside, and off technology.

Harbour Town Park is the perfect spot for a half basketball court. It’s surrounded by lots of houses and has a small playground. But there’s nothing for older kids and young people. Wouldn’t it be great to build a court so that people of all ages can use the park and meet other local families?

I love basketball and lots of Kids in Harbour Town do.

Anyone can shoot hoops. Parents can play with their kids. A new court will bring the local community closer together. It will be good for community spirit.

Families can watch their young kids at the playground while older kids play basketball. A new court will encourage kids to make new friends in the Harbour Town Estate. They can meet up at the park and play basketball together.

Your vote will help local kids and families stay healthy, active and connected.

No, the space is too small and the noise will interfere with the lifestyle of residents living in very close proximity to the basketball court, as it will be virtually on their fence-line. I understand the need for children having sporting interests but I have great concern about youth making this a hang out location both during the day and at night and continuing to make noise and bounce balls at unsociable hours. I object to taking away the open space that was required when the estate was built, which was necessary for walking and beautification of the area. There is no shortage of basketball courts and stadiums in this area, including school courts of which there are a number. I am concerned about Interference with shift workers sleep patterns, of which there are two in my household. This is a residential area in which many people purchased for the quiet location. I believe the basketball court will devalue Harbour Town properties located near the basketball court. This basketball proposal was denied for the above reasons when the estate first began and should be denied again. The first proposal was only for a basketball ring and the proposal was voted out by local residents. Yelling and screaming are normal practice in a game of basketball and the already allocated basketball courts, are the place for that.

Great idea - ! Kids need to be involved in some kind of outdoor activity-
This is an ideal opportunity to encourage kids of all ages - and with the existing playground,-
Harbour Town Hoops would be a great addition to this area......
