Mansfield Basketball is a growing sport in our town. Our Junior Comp has 448 players, the vast majority under 12. To enable & encourage young players to shoot and score, ideally we should have backboards that adjust from the standard 10ft height to 8ft. Lower backboards will enable players to build their confidence and technique by shooting the ball and scoring. MDBA has one stadium which is 38 years old, and the backboards are old and past their prime. What we need & should have is spring loaded height adjustable backboards for all abilities.
Sport is a major part of any small community. It brings people together from all backgrounds and cultures. Our Junior Domestic Competition makes up 82% of members.
We promote healthy happy kids, adolescents and adults. We include participants of all ages, abilities, genders & special needs.
Providing new backboards will allow players to develop their game and skills, which in turn leads to improved self esteem & confidence.
Team sports build mateship, confidence, and respect in a safe and friendly environment. Basketballers are surrounded by supportive encouraging coaches & officials.
