The Hamilton Pastoral and Agricultural Society is celebrating 160 years in 2018. The Hamilton Showgrounds have had a long and rich history. They host the South West Regions largest event- Sheepvention which attracts over 20,000 patrons and $10 million to the economy annually. In addition over 100 casual events are hosted at the Showgrounds each year. These include conferences, markets, private events and festivals. Every person who attends an event at the Showgrounds will benefit from the sealed roads. As the majority of events are held in winter months, the road sealing is of extra benefit.

The Hamilton Showgrounds has the following user groups: Hamilton Lions Club, Greater Hamilton Archers, Hamilton Brass Band, Hamilton SES, Western District Umpires Association, Hamilton Kennel Club and is also a staging area for the CFA. All users are in support of road sealing. The Showgrounds are open to the public and it's a popular area for dog walkers. There is also a dedicated public toilet at the Showgrounds. Due to the amount of traffic and potholes there is currently constant maintenance needs, which are conducted by both the Southern Grampians Shire and The P&A.

To seal these internal roads will aid the comfort and safety of all uses of the Hamilton Showgrounds and the Exhibition Building. It would be of great benefit to the patrons and trade exhibitors of Sheepvention - making sites and marquee's more easily accessible at a time of year that is normally wet. The flow on effect would be the increased use of the facility by all, including those with disabilities and the elderly.
