This project involves renovating the school’s existing gymnasium (which is really just a big shed) so that it can house an Art/Science space. The gym would need to have a wall installed, flooring upgraded from concrete, a false ceiling, insulation, heating and air conditioning, electricity and plumbing for it to be a fully functional room. We want the students of Halls Gap Primary School to have a space that is dedicated to the teaching of STEAM subjects. The school does not currently have a dedicated art/science space.

It is essential that schools develop connections with their local community. In the case of Halls Gap Primary School, we have already established links with community groups such as Brambuk, Parks Victoria, Pomonal/Halls Gap Play Group, Grampians Brushes and Textures and the Wildlife Art Museum of Australia (WAMA.) Our aim is to provide students with a greater connection to their community and the environment. We also have some wildly talented parents at our school. An Art Space would give us the room to extend invitations and to work on longer-term projects without having to interrupt and rearrange classrooms.
