Growing the Coburg community through basketball

This project will improve the indoor basketball court at Coburg High so it becomes a competition-grade court for use by local basketball clubs, Coburg Giants, and Coburg High. The project will replace the indoor lighting – which is extremely poor, creating challenges for players and referees, including safety hazards. Sound equipment will be installed for clear announcements and commentary as well as music and other flexible uses. Coburg High School and the Coburg Basketball Association are partnering in this project, which will address a significant gap in the network of courts used by the basketball community in and around Coburg.

Enhancing the basketball gymnasium at Coburg High will improve the community’s access to high quality facilities for basketball and other sport and recreation. Basketball facilities in the Coburg area are in high demand and short supply as boys, girls and the wider community are increasingly involved in basketball. Coburg High and the Coburg Basketball Association are committed to working together to continue building this participation in our diverse community. Facilities improvements are crucial for this. The project will also benefit the rapidly growing Coburg High community by enabling more varied and expanded use of the indoor facility during school hours.
