To accommodate the growing demand for cricket in Warrnambool and increase the safety of participants. Install new hard wickets and construct new cricket nets at Bushfield and Mack Ovals. New hard cricket wickets need to be laid at these two reserves in Warrnambool to ensure they are compliant to Cricket Australia Community Facilities standard. This would greatly increase safety with a more consistent surface and allow for line-marking. There is also a strong need for new cricket nets mainly for participant safety as they currently have poor uneven run ups, damaged fencing and torn synthetic carpet surfaces.

The existing facilities are non-compliant with Cricket Australia Community Facilities Guidelines. Increasing female participation has been a key objective of the Warrnambool District Cricket Association and as a result was awarded the Cricket Association of the Year for development and advancement of girl’s cricket from Cricket Victoria in 2017/2018. Mack Oval is considered the hub for female cricket in Warrnambool as well as the location for the school holiday T-Blast program encouraging junior participation. Improved facilities would accommodate the growing demand for participation especially from females with 150 females registered and participating last season compared to 60 in year before.
