Green Magpies Go Solar

Our student-led, sustainability team are the "Green Magpies" and they are working their way towards their first ‘star’ under the ResourceSmart Schools Program. In this students learn to operate more sustainably; reducing costs and saving on electricity, water, and waste bills. They also learn about reducing greenhouse gas emissions to minimise their impact on the environment.

Our Green Magpie team, have asked for locally sourced solar panels. The solar panels will be positioned on our architecturally designed, large school roof to assist them in achieving their dreams of a sustainable school.

Increasing electricity prices are putting significant pressure on our school. Our students will benefit from the electricity cost savings and emission reductions solar energy can provide. It will save our school a substantial amount of money, that can be channelled back into more sustainability educational programs. Solar panels on our massive roof will be a very green opportunity to educate our passionate students on solar energy related equipment and harnessing green energy from a natural resource - the sun! It will also set up our growing community and generations to come for a much better future.
