The Gondwana Indigenous Children's Choir gives voice to the diverse cultures of Australia’s Indigenous youth, providing a vehicle to build identity through deep collaboration with local elders and community. At the core of GICC’s mission is the preservation and development of language and story through song, involving intergenerational cultural activity and developing a new contemporary Indigenous repertoire. Their sound is unique, with a richness, warmth and strength that is recognised and loved by audiences. All members of the Bendigo and surrounding community, especially primary and secondary school students will benefit from participating in their choral workshops and performances.

A tour by the Gondwana Indigenous Children's Choir is a perfect fit with Bendigo’s existing strong choral network, and its church and civic choral performance venues. The choir's offering will spur a wide interest, and increased participation in choral performance and community singing, with ongoing benefits for our community's connectedness, health and wellbeing. Additionally, it will build the reputation of Bendigo as a major centre of choral activity. This choir builds social capital by bridging cultures and promoting reconciliation. As a children's choir, its impact upon the youth of our city has the potential to inspire resilience and hope.

Bendigo has an opportunity to be the centre of the musical and cultural world with 'Bridges in Song' bringing the Central Australian Aboriginal Women Choir and Central Victorian Women's Choir bringing the Gondwana Indigenous Choir here. Would be great to have these two happen!

Bringing the Gondwana Indigenous Children's Choir along with the
Bridges in Song Choir would be culturally a fantastic opportunity not only for the children but the greater community of the region to help bridge the gap and for all to learn more in understanding the cultures of these two groups in song.

Image if our world was filled with young choral singers, what difference it would make.
