The current timber yards are dangerous, weak, sinking, secured only by string/wire/nails. They are a huge safety threat to users of the reserve. The yards need to be upgraded to a more secure galvanised round pipe system (including chain entries) to protect horses in the yards from injury or harm (from the broken/splintered, fallen-over/weak posts and rails). A more secure yard system will protect the horses in the yards and other users of the reserve. Currently horses can easily escape the yards - posing a great risk to vehicles, people and the horses themselves.

The reserve is home to many community groups and is open to the pubic. Many more will benefit from the upgrade. The reserve hosts on a regular basis; the Glenlyon & District Pony Club and Adult Riding Club, the Riding for Disabled and Carriage Driving Club to name a few. There are very limited reserves open to the public now (most are closed/for paid private/group hire). With great facilities including the accredited and well recognised cross country course, people would travel great distances to privately train. Many other horse groups hire the reserve also.
