Discovery Science & Technology Centre will take early years professional development to rural Victoria. Access to Professional Development diminishes the further a teacher is from major centres. This project will address this by providing inquiry-based science and technology PD and workshops to school and early childhood centres in the Loddon/Mallee region.

The target group are teachers in smaller communities, who usually travel distances for face-to-face PD and their students, because of the interactive nature of the training.

The key aim is to increase the confidence and competence of teachers in delivering innovative and engaging STEM programs.

Every community visited will mean an increased chance of a better learning environment for local children, which means a better chance to succeed in higher education. The power of inquiry-based learning is that students learn life skills - how to work as teams, how to make and learn from mistakes, how to use and improve imagination and creativity.

Put simply, the community need that "Taking early childhood development training to regional Victoria" meets, is the need to support teachers in their vital role of preparing young people for the future.
