There are a wide range of women-focussed community and support groups within Gippsland covering a range of areas including: domestic violence, women’s health, Indigenous and migrant communities, young mothers, as well as CWA, Girl Guides, etc. The Gippsland Women’s Network will bring these groups together to support each other. The Network will be co-ordinated through a web-based portal, with links to the individual groups and social media activity. It will act as a one-stop-shop for women seeking information or greater community engagement. We will also host an Expo once a year to showcase all of the groups and activities.
Every regional community has a limited pool of passionate people who want to make a difference. The Gippsland Women’s Network brings together these people to support each other – whilst they help others. Having a shared portal and events calendar will allow the members of the individual groups to cross-promote activities and offer help where needed. For the broader Gippsland community, the Network will be an entry point to find out what services are available and where, or which groups people may be interested to join. This allows a sense of engagement and place to develop organically within the community.
