My family volunteer at Fusion Mornington Peninsula because we believe in what they do and how they operate.
Fusion operate a youth refuge in Mt Martha for schools and community programs with disadvantaged young people. They have a desire to expand these services. They operate largely without Government funding or an ongoing income stream, relying on fundraising, philanthropy and donations. I’ve had 35 years retail ownership/management experience including setting up attractive second hand shops on a tight budget. My project is to create a source of income that is an inter-generational community hub of trainees, volunteers and visitors.
The facility will be more than a standard church/charity op shop. It will be a place that draws people in (from a retail perspective) and a warm meeting place for people of all ages. Ideals of community wellbeing will be placed alongside those of profitability. Community groups will be invited to use the cafe/meeting room for classes and get togethers. Recycling in the store will be key. Retirees will renovate and repurpose donated goods (furniture) and there will be systems for using unsellable goods. Fusion residents and those in need of vocational assistance will be given employability skills training.

This project will help the most needy in the community when help can make a difference
With the terrible situation of homeless young people, I fully support the work of Fusion and their work in providing accommodation and community support for young people. The Fusion Retro Fit Store and Community Cafe is a great extension to help support the work well into the future.
Fusion provides a high standard of safe and secure accommodation for young people utilising high levels of community engagement and dedicated volunteer labour. Fusion has over 30 years of trusted service to the community and is worthy of support to fund this expansion which will ensure security of service standards for many years to come.
There are just so many positive aspects to this concept. Great idea.
Very worthwhile initiative by Fusion-empowering marginalised youth
and instilling in them a sense of self worth and community
Fusion already do much meaningful work for marginalised young people, this would broaden their scope and the community interaction can only be beneficial.
Sustainable, community engagement, income for aspiring the Peninsula's vulnerable. Excellent!!
The ability to provide a regular income stream for Fusion Mornington Peninsula would be brilliant, alongside the ability to engage the community. The possibilities for the space are endless. Such a great project.
This idea would assist to develop and expand the already wonderful work Fusion do on the Peninsula
I think this would build on
fusion's already good work.
What a wonderful vision for supporting the local community - thank you to Fusion for their excellent work across the country.
I think this would be a good idea to train young people and get them ready fir Employment and be a strong part in the community

This is such a great worthwhile project for the Mornington Peninsula community. Fusion is an organisation which has a great heart for helping young troubled and homeless people and has an awesome track record for getting them back on their feet and on their way to becoming mature adults. I recommend this project to all on the Mornington Peninsula as a great way to help the the homeless young folk in our Peninsula community.
