This exciting project is stage 2 of a 3 stage redevelopment of the Alexandra Recreation Reserve. Stage 1 (2 netball courts, lighting and female change rooms/ toilets) has been completed. Installation of new 3 phase underground power will not only enable the 6 new light towers around the oval to be installed/utilised, it will also provide the infrastructure required to begin stage 3 of the re-development. Stage 3 - a new multi-purpose "whole of community" facility - will round out the transformation of this much loved community asset. The reserve master plan, guiding the re-development, will then be complete.

The Alexandra Recreation Reserve is home to over 500 members/players of football, netball and cricket from across the district. It is also be well-utilised by the Alexandra Show Society (P & A), Alexandra Poultry Club and many casual recreation users. As an emergency response staging ground it has been used on a number of occasions including hosting over 600 fire fighters and emergency personnel during the 2009 bushfire emergency. The current power supply and lighting at the reserve is out-dated, inadequate and a hindrance to safety and full utilisation of the space for sport, recreation and emergency response purposes.

New lighting is greatly needed to ensure safety into the future for this extensively used facility - especially for children and older patrons.

A vital project that will ensure that this facility continues to provide essential services to a broad cross section of our community
