Frogtopia will comprise a 80.64m long mural of approximately 1,340 30cm x30cm paintings of frogs, in a public open space. The works would be painted by local school children and members of community groups. It would celebrate the history of Murrumbeena as having once been known by indigenous inhabitants, as “the place of frogs and swamps” The mural would complement and be part of the existing Outdoor Gallery and Community Garden at the rear of Murrumbeena Uniting Church at 117 Murrumbeena Road, Murrumbeena. It will be permanently open to the general public for socialising, relaxation, meditation or artwork.

Making art accessible to the general public by participating in its creation opens a new appreciation. To create the mural, Anthony will hold Community Paint –In days at a communal studio at the Church and run workshops at schools and kindergartens . Such participation may lead people to become involved in art activities. Murrumbeena needs public open spaces for passive recreation. Frogtopia will be part of a place where visitors can enjoy the peacefulness of the sheltered space, socialise, sit and read or do craftwork with the opportunity to meet new people through on-going artwork and the Community Garden.

This is a beautiful idea, using the children creativity to memorize the history of the land. Anthony Breslin is an amazing artist and this project will also inspire the children for the future. I love the work and can see how this is coming to life.

This is a wonderful community project that encourages the important creative development in children. We should never underestimate creative growth in children. It helps them to imagine, innovate and problem solve throughout their lives. The benefit is they get to work alongside one of Australia's leading contemporary artists at the same time as doing something positive for the community. Love it!

Anthony Breslin's work is amazing! He is so creative and talented. The picture shown here was not done by Anthony but rather by local school children under his guidance. Please vote for Anthony's Frogtopia project!!

What a wonderful way in which to engage the local community in creating a memorable artwork and outdoor Gallery. A space where people can go to read, sit quietly, meditate and chat to the community Gardeners. Another step towards making Murrumbeena an Art Village.
