Free Community Infant & Child First Aid Education

Qualified Parentmedic Ambassadors will teach life saving skills to the community in partnership with the Highett Neighbourhood Community House. These sessions are 2.5 hours in length. Four sessions per month will be run over 12 months across two locations.

Sessions are child friendly to ensure equal access opportunity to all parents who wouldn’t otherwise be able to attend. All sessions will be run by a qualified health professional and will include topics such as: baby and child CPR, introduction of food and choking, temperature management, allergies, head injury and other common childhood ailments, in addition to safe sleep education.

Every parent and carer deserves the opportunity to learn life changing and life saving skills to confidently keep their children happy and safe at home. Among the key goals for our local community outlined in the Bayside City Council Plan 2017 – 2021 is: ‘Support Community Health and Participation’; highlighting the need to support the community to remain healthy and safe regardless of personal circumstances. Providing free First Aid knowledge to parents and carers will help remove socio-economic challenges and ultimately increase health and wellbeing and reduce the burden on public health structures such as local hospitals and after-hours clinics.
