Qualified Parentmedic Ambassadors will teach lifesaving baby and child First Aid to the community in partnership with Coonara Community House and the Knox Learning Alliance.
These sessions will be 2.5 hours in length and 52 sessions will be run over 12 months across 5 locations within the City of Knox. These sessions will be child-friendly to ensure equal access opportunity to all parents. All sessions will be run by a qualified health professional and will include topics such as: baby and child CPR; introduction to food and choking, temperature management; and fevers, allergies and anaphylaxis.

Every parent and carer deserves the opportunity to learn the life changing and lifesaving skills they need to confidently keep their children healthy and safe at home. Amongst the key goals for our local community as outlined in the Knox Council Plan 2017-2021 is: 'We are Healthy, Happy and Well', which highlights the need to provide personal health and wellbeing opportunities particularly amongst the most vulnerable and disadvantaged in our community.
Providing free First Aid sessions to parents and carers, at locations within Knox will help remove socio-economic challenges and ultimately increase health and wellbeing of children and families.

I wish I had this when I had my first child. It is also essential for first time grandparents whose skill base might be out of date. Great initiative!
