FLOW Festival - Deaf Arts

Flow Festival will deliver a vibrant and unique festival of Deaf Arts by the Australian Deaf Community, in partnership with Arts Access Victoria. It will showcase Auslan, sign language of the Australian Deaf Community through many different artistic forms. It is designed for all ages, embracing diversity and inclusion. Deaf/Hearing Auslan artists/performers will engage, create and share a range of artistic experiences, including exhibitions, performance, workshops, gatherings and celebrations. The festival will host Auslan X, Auslan storytelling, Visual Vernacular performances, dance, short films, childrens and youth art activities, indigenous storytelling, artists talk, deafslam poetry workshops and presentations.

The significance of deaf arts festival that is driven, designed and delivered by the deaf community is huge and the impact will be profound. Flow Festival will provide a platform to showcase the outstanding work of Deaf /Hearing Auslan artists/performers, to celebrate Deaf culture and to gather the community. Flow festival will not only serve to engage the deaf community but will build new relationships with the audiences and participants from the broader community. This will be the first Deaf Arts Festival in Victoria to engage both deaf and hearing communities to learn, share and celebrate deaf arts/culture.
