Installation of four poles and appropriate floodlights will allow for night time bowling on our newly installed synthetic green (which was self funded). Access to the facilities is open to the general public, including members of other bowling clubs. It is anticipated that night time use of the facility will include formal competitions, informal competitions (such as barefoot bowls, Forty/40 bowls), general practice for all bowlers and an opportunity for members of the public to come and try bowls as an activity. A formal quote from a local contractor, experienced in sports ground lighting, has been obtained for the project

There are four bowling clubs within Ararat, none of which have appropriate floodlighting to allow night time bowling. Capacity to play bowls of a night time increases capacity for club members, bowlers generally and members of the general public to participate in a sporting activity during the working week and of a weekend. Ararat is widely recognized has having an obesity problem and this project provides increased opportunity for all residents of the area to be more active and socially connected. Floodlights will also greatly enhance Ararat's community owned sporting infrastructure and compliments the councils Municipal Health and Wellbeing Plan

A progressive club that continuously promotes the game of bowls in its local and wide ranging communities with the provision of excellent facilities and events whose activities can only be enhanced by the addition of lighting. Such an installation would allow expansion of playing time, summer and winter and provide access for community members held back by ongoing '9 to 5 commitments.' A worthy addition to Ararat's sporting facilities.
