We will replace the existing flooring on Court 1 at the much loved and used Ararat Fitness Centre. This will include new sub-structure, flooring, sanding, varnish and polishing. The project will also repair the existing grandstand and replace the scoreboard on court 1 which is no longer working properly.

The Ararat Basketball Association delivers basketball and futsal competitions for the people of Ararat. There are currently 475 members who are mostly school aged and use the stadium on a daily basis. Basketball popularity is growing and the court use is at capacity 5 nights a week. One court was replaced 8 years ago and the other one is becoming unusable. The boards are now too thin to sand back any further. Next to the Town Hall, The Ararat Fitness Centre is the most used community facility in the municipality by Men, Women and children of all ages.

This stadium is so important to our community. We need to get this floor replaced or we may not have a stadium to play in. Our stadium is used everyday of the week by all age groups for many different sports, if the floor is to fall through unfortunately until we can find the money to replace it the stadium will not be able to be used. This would have a devastating effect on our community and our children.

Our kids need this. Active kids is what we need. Without this we become a lazy town. Not what we want.

This is an important asset to the Ararat community and has needed upgrading for a long time. My son was taken to hospital to receive sutures in his knee after sliding on a nail that had popped up from the court. This would be a very worthwhile project.

This is a very important project both needed for upgrade and a major safety improvement to the area which is utilized every week night.

It is important that our town keeps our sporting facilities in good working order.

This court is heavily used every night of the week and also for our CBL Basketball Teams and Regional Academy Basketball Camps. It is desperatley in need of repair and becomes unsafe when nails begin to protrude. This is embarrassing as well as an OH&S issue. This is also a popular recreational space for youth during holidays and weekends.

This sporting facility has been instrumental in growing children's and young people's interests in team sports. It is a much needed outlet for all community members and as a volunteer of the Ararat Basketball teams I would like to see improvements made to the courts to better serve and foster community participation in sporting events.

Multi purpose facility used all year round and is in need of updating before it becomes unsafe for use. School groups, sporting groups and casual use by all age groups over the weekends provides a centrally located, accessible, monitored environment for not only our youth to come and play but encourages families (grandparents through to children) to be part of and encourage regular physical exercise through team sports but spectator safety is now becoming an issue too.
