Much of the signage along the creek path is rusted and dilapidated so it would be great to replace this .

Clunes is an iconic goldfields town north of Ballarat. From the discovery of gold in 1851 through to today as an International Booktown and film location, it has punched above its weight. This rich heritage deserves a suite of state-of-the-art historical information boards.
The existing historical signs were installed in 2001 as part of the 150th commemoration of the discovery of gold. Many are weatherised and illegible; some are vandalized. These should be replaced ( 10 ) and augmented with 10 new signs. The signs would incorporate digital "apps".
Their siting would integrate with the proposed Clunes walking track network.
As a "tree-changer" myself, who takes friends on a walking tour, I know how much both new residents and visitors want to know more about the town's rich history. Good signage is a great showcase given Clunes' growing popularity as a tourist destination. Integrated with the walking track network, it will also encourage local walkers, and walking groups and benefit groups doing historical tours. Incorporating digital apps such as "geo-caching" and QR code will enhance youth engagement especially for the 400 visiting Wesley students. For residents generally, good signs encourage a sense of place, a sense of connection and pride.

That is correct Joseph, updating the historic signage in Clunes demonstrates that the community cares enough about it's town history to display it in an engaging and appealing manner. Thanks for your vote.

It is important to have details of our heritage available for visitors. There are so many iconic places and buildings in Clunes these signs would enhance our town and make a visit to Clunes more enjoyable
