festival21: Our Future Through Food

festival21 is a free cultural event that demonstrates and celebrates the transformative power of food. While most of us love it, and all of us need it, we often miss the significant potential our food has to lead us towards a better future for our health, our community, and our planet. Taking place on Saturday 02 February 2019, festival21 will empower and equip attendees to use their food choices as a tool for driving positive change. With a strong program of locals and internationals, festival21 will rethink food through the lens of art, knowledge and sustainability, to compel a movement.

Today, the way we grow, process, purchase, and eat food is causing serious harm to our health, our communities, and our planet. 70% of Australians are overweight and obese. In the same world where 1 in 3 mouthfuls of edible food are wasted, 1 in 20 Australians go to bed hungry. On top of this, our food industry contributes a third of global greenhouse gas emissions. Food represents some of our greatest challenges, but it can also be the pathway to a better connection to each other, and our planet.

festival21 provides the toolkit for converting these concerns to actions.
