Frankston District Netball Association (FDNA) wants to support its community in choosing healthier food and drink options. Upgrades to the facilities at Jubilee Park will allow the canteen to provide healthier food and drinks such as salad and toasted sandwiches, baked potatoes, hot soup and hot drinks etc.
The facilities will also allow the storage & sale of fresh produce, decrease the reliance on packaged items, and reduce the amount of food waste created.

Healthy foods will be promoted and prominently displayed at all FDNA events so that the community are aware of and encouraged to make healthier choices.

Local statistics suggest that 55% of the adult population is overweight or obese and other studies suggest that up to 20% of children are overweight or obese with this number projected to increase to 33% by 2025. Excessive weight and obesity impact health and wellbeing.

FDNA is working with Peninsula Health to prevent excessive weight and obesity by making healthy choices easy at Jubilee Park, which services 1500 people on game day. Club leaders will also champion healthy food behaviour.

Healthy options and role models will support adults and children to become healthier and prevent ill-health later in life.
