In response to local enthusiasm to grow Falls Creek’s long association with the arts in this unique location and more deeply share our ancient past and contemporary culture with more than 500,000 annual visitors, Falls Creek Resort Management plans to commission a major new public artwork by an established artist. The work will acknowledge the commanding presence of the alpine peaks visible in the area, raise appreciation for this environment and attract new national and international visitors to the region. It will support ongoing creative development around alpine-specific concepts including the impacts of climate change in our high country.

Falls Creek has always been an artist’s haven, supporting artists’ camps, exhibitions, comedy, film festivals and the new community Museum. Following consultation in 2015, the Board adopted an Arts Strategy in 2016 to build community resilience in the face of climate change, which will substantially impact our winters as early as the 2020s. The Board's community-based arts committee introduced an Artist-In-Residence Program in summer 16-17 and is now keen to commence work on the next big idea, a major public art commission in the village which will invigorate economic development in the region by attracting new green season visitation.

Would provide a great year round attraction at Falls Creek, a stunning way to frame a stunning view! Just not in gold please, it's not in keeping with the environment. If modern application, use reflective glass to ensure it always blends in with nature's moods.
