Equality and Diversity

The Equality and Diversity program is based on creating an awareness to service providers around sexual orientation and gender diversity for people with an intellectual disability and mental health, who identify as LGBTIQ+. The project is facilitated by LGBITQ+ community members and people with an intellectual and mental health disability from the LGBTIQ+ community.

We aim to break down the social barriers and issues faced by people with a disability accessing service providers, individuals who identity as being from the LGBTIQ+ and gender diverse community, who are at risk of social isolation, segregation, sexuality transmitted diseases, drug and alcohol addiction, mental illness and suicidal idolisation.

People with an intellectual disability who identify as LGBTIQ+ are extremely isolated and marginalised and at risk of isolation, infection, addiction and suicide. Creating an awareness while educating service providers will help to break down the barriers and reduce these risks.
