Great Idea!! As an older local skateboarder Ive seen the park upgraded several times. As awesome as the upgrades have been. The 2 things we have always needed is better shelter and lighting for the park. In winter kids barely get and hour or 2 to skate before it gets dark. Lighting would be an awesome addition to an already great skatepark!!

- The youth of the Macedon Ranges have expressed a view to enhance an area that they utilise.
- They would like a structure over the skate park and lighting so it can be utilised all year round by the community.
- Further enhance the area by providing sustainable gardens and seating for community involvement and interaction.
- This will enhance what the shire has previously provided by developing youth friendly spaces that can be better utilised.
- Ability to conduct skate board, scooter and BMX tournaments in a safer environment.
- Provide a safe area for youths to meet.
- Addressing the needs of the younger generation, reducing mental illness and social exclusion through sporting activities.
- Create a safe place for youths of all ages and the wider community to congregate.
- Eliminate anti-social behaviour within the Macedon Ranges Shire.
- Provide an area for the youth to take ownership and maintain.
- Providing sporting opportunities that are inexpensive and more accessible to the entire community.

This skate park always has kids there. It needs an upgrade. Would look great with some wicked graffiti too maybe by local artists.

There's a huge population growth in Gisborne, the biggest in the shire, we need spaces where young people can engage and exercise, currently the skate park is in dire need of an upgrade. Our skate park is very well utilised by young people and should be a space that reflects the growing population and is safe and inviting for young people.

This would be great to see as I use to use this when I was a kid now my kids use it so definitely needs upgrade as town is growing also some more rubbish bins

The Macedon Ranges shire has a high youth suicide rate and anything that can be done to enhance their health and well being must be done!!! What an amazing injection of energy this would be into the heart of our community.

I go to the skatepark all the time with my friends. The fact that we don’t have lightning means that during winter the park isn’t utilised as it gets dark after school. A structure over the park would be great as well so the youth of the Macedon ranges could still end up going to the skatepark during those wet winter days. - Ryan

The teenagers in Gisborne need somewhere to burn off their energy & do something that is constructive. My boys spend hours at the skate park, perfecting their tricks! It’s a good way for them to clear their heads & it gets them off there phones & devices! This is sooo important!
