ENGAGING children in STEM early!

Each week for 10 weeks, educators of children aged 3-6 will be invited to observe and participate in the pilot STEM program at Mildura West Kindergarten. Each workshop explores a specific STEM subject and pedagogical technique.

For each of the 10 weeks a different set of themed age appropriate STEM challenges will be implemented designed around the themes of water, magnetism, construction, chemistry, the human body and Australian animals.

Parent participation will also be strongly encouraged.

This project is designed to empower those working with children aged 3-6 years to implement STEM into their centre with the principals of play, hands on, sensory filled, inquiry-based experiences. Teachers will experience pedagogical technique as these STEM workshops are modelled with a pilot group of kindergarten children. Teachers will experience true hands on learning.

The workshops will provide educators with new STEM understanding and confidence when planning and implementing STEM learning in their own centre.

Children will benefit from STEM content and be happier learners.
