This project is the continuum of Woomelang's dedication to educating and creating awareness of the endangered species within the Victorian Mallee region. This project will be an extension to the recently painted carpet python on the shop wall. An artist will be engaged to assist the community to bring the endangered Victorian animals to life through the murals on panels that will be featured and displayed in the newly developed community space, Combine Corner. The painting subjects will be selected by the community with the assistance of the artist and consultations with the Mallee Catchment Management Authority.
Woomelang has a huge opportunity to draw in new tourism crowds’ due to the Silo Art Trail and Lake Tyrrell with both attractions drawing significant visitors. This project will strengthen the community bond, bring everyone together and create a new talking point! The new area of Combine Corner is a gathering place for not only locals but passing tourists. This is going to have a much-needed positive effect on the town. Hopefully, this installment of artwork will cause passing tourists to stop. This will generate support for the local businesses and helps keep business in town, benefiting the local economy.
